Make no mistake about it: It's Working.
We heard some say the sky would fall...that there would be massive layoffs of state and local government workers and teachers. Some asserted that Wisconsin's budget reform would mark the end of the state as we know it. But the sky's still there, and Wisconsin is stronger than ever. Thanks to Wisconsin's budget reform This website is committed to providing the facts to Wisconsin taxpayers. Every week there are more examples of how It's Working. Together, the Americans for Prosperity Foundation and the John K. MacIver Institute for Public Policy have chronicled success stories from across Wisconsin. We also arm you with the facts to explain why the reform was necessary. Facing a $3.6 billion deficit, Wisconsin's general fund was hemorrhaging money, spending more than it was taking in. Wisconsin could have either raised taxes on individuals, families and job providers, or cut spending. As a result of Wisconsin's budget reform, the state has cut the deficit and reduced the strain on local governments by giving them the tools to reduce their labor costs without massive program cuts or layoffs. This website details the positive results of local officials having the flexibility to reduce spending while protecting vital services. Wisconsin's Budget Reform. It's Working. |
Baseless Recall Effort Plagued by Allegations of Harassment
Author: Nicole.Larson
[MADISON, WI]- New information reported to the Recall Integrity Center has revealed that harassment has plagued the effort to recall Governor Walker from the very beginning. This breaking update regards an incident of petition circulators harassing a local Oconomowoc resident and her two young children.
On Tuesday, November 15, Alexandra Carney was stopped by a group of petition-circulators as she attempted to drive her two young children to the McDonald's in Delafield. The petition-circulators blocked Mrs. Carney's car in the street in front of Nagawaukee Ice Arena, and asked that she sign the petition to recall Governor Walker. As Mrs. Carney shook her head no and attempted to drive away, a petition circulator raised his middle finger to Mrs. Carney, called her an offensive name, and threw an egg at her windshield as her children watched the entire scene unfold. Mrs. Carney honked her horn and was able to get through the crowd so as to drive her children away from the scene.
"It was truly terrifying. I never dreamed my children and I would be a target of vandalism simply for refusing to sign a petition," said Carney. "These tactics have no place in our political process, and I sincerely hope that my story discourages further attempts to intimidate other families who refuse to support this baseless recall against the Governor."
"This harassment on the part of recall petition circulators is shameful and unwarranted," said Stephan Thompson, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin. "It's one thing to go and force this baseless recall on Wisconsin families, but to block traffic and verbally abuse a mother in front of her children is another thing entirely. We sincerely hope these petition circulators will show more respect for the integrity of this process, as well as our families' safety."
