Candidate for Board of Education

Biography:

Sheboygan native David P. Ross, attended St. Peter Claver, Farnsworth Jr. High, and Sheboygan South High. He also attended UW-Sheboygan as an English major.

David recently retired from Krier Foods Corporation where he had been employed as a Lab Technician. Previous employment consisted of various sales and factory jobs, most notably Borden Foods in Plymouth and H.C. Prange’s in Sheboygan where, in addition to other positions, he was one of several “Bruce the Spruce’s”.

His only employment outside of Sheboygan county was during his early twenties, spending three years as a musician in a traveling Top-40 band, highlighted by playing in Oahu, Hawaii in the summer of 1982.

David has been married to his wife for 39 years, they have three children and four grandchildren. Over the years the family has enjoyed camping, Packer games, water-skiing, family trips to the Wisconsin Dells, and many other activities. David has enjoyed coaching soccer and later helping with Sheboygan’s recreation department basketball league as a supervisor.

Becoming a Christian in 1983, David has been involved as a Sunday school teacher, music leader, youth group director, and has done jail visitation ministry.  For fun he enjoys holidays and all family gatherings, breakfast with new and old friends, singing karaoke, and watching his oldest son’s ’90s band!

Why school board?  As David puts it:

1) Because of my love for children and teens, I want to join in the efforts that are made to best equip them to enter the workforce when their schooling is over.

2) I would like to be a voice of reason and examine whether all things presented in the classroom are what we would consider “The Best” things for our students.

3) I would like to help in restoring SASD’s test scores which too many students are failing.

What I bring to the table:  Love for kids and community, integrity along with the ability to work with others to achieve goals paired with a consistent desire to present new strategies and ideas.
